JUST HOLD ME
Our love blossomed with the cherry trees
O’Sweet Spring, tender moment of truth.
From the first time I held you I knew
That all of my love was meant for you.
We held each other as we rolled through the high grass
We kissed and laughed and the sumac trees laughed with us
Summer’s cerulean sky held promise above,
Drinking of each other we were drunk with love.
With Fall’s glowing canopy of maples to behold
They surrounded us in swirls of red, russet and gold
You took my hand and we held each other,
Knowing that there would never be another.
Now the silhouette of dark trees sways with the Winter’s day
I sit on a cold marble bench and stare into the even colder sky of gray.
Bits of sun peak through the clouds now and then.
And I would give anything…. just to hold you… again.
